MBW'S New Premium, High Production Compactor... The 3550 Vibratory Plate Series
FEBRUARY 10, 2006 - MBW's GP3000 vibratory plate is now evolving into the GP3550. The evolving model features the same low maintenance exciter unit that served so well in the GP3000, although we've tweaked the system a bit to enhance travel speed. At 110 feet/minute, the GP3550 is approximately 20% faster than the GP3000. Amplitude increases by 10%. Operating weight decreases by 15 pounds in spite of a heavier vibrating base assembly of stress relieved, solid steel. Weight reduction is attributed to a more efficient engine deck design similar to that of MBW's AP2000. The new deck features a full roll cage as standard equipment with provisions for an optional water tank for asphalt compaction. The new base plate is self-cleaning with an open sided plate design that allows material to flow out and away from the belt/ pulley assembly during operation.
MBW's on-going effort to reduce operator exposure to hand/arm vibration has been facilitated as the GP3000 morphs into GP3550. As of September 2005, with endurance testing on GP3550 proto-types underway, hand/arm vibration is down to 3.1 on the European scale. That's a reduction of roughly 70%.
Like the GP3000, the GP3550 is a premium, high production compactor with life expectancy that runs to decades with reasonable maintenance. Cost reduction has not been one of our objectives. We are, however, intent on providing greater value for similar cost - reduced hand/arm vibration, full roll cage protection, enhanced amplitude, faster travel speed, and updated yet rugged appearance.
MBW will be changing its model designations. Beginning January 2006, any model originally set-up for soil compaction will be prefixed by "GP" (Ground Pounder). The same machine originally set-up for asphalt will be prefixed "AP" (Asphalt Pounder). Thus, the GP3550 comes without water system. The AP3550 comes with water system. The AP2000S will become the GP2000, the AP2000 will remain the AP2000, etc.
